China now represents 4. º export market for wines from Alentejo, Portugal, outside the EU, with exports increasing 170% over the past five years, according to data from the Alentejo Regional Wine Commission (CVRA).  The Chinese market has enjoyed steady growth for Alentejo wines, although it is a small export base.     Citing statistics from the past five years, between 2007 and 2012, exports to China "represented 170% growth", which demonstrates the potential of this market and the investment by the wine companies.     Sales of Alentejo wines have always been growing and China is no longer the 6. º to become the fourth. A maior população do mundo está a virar a sua atenção para a produção portuguesa. A China é deficitária na área agrícola , o que constitui uma excelente oportunidade para os produtos tradicionais portugueses como o vinho, azeite, lacticínios e arroz do Mondego. Este é um bom momento para as empresas portuguesas considerarem a internacionalização para as cidades que se estão a tornar no motor de crescimento da China e que, muitas vezes, representam, individualmente, territórios com população que excede a de muitos países europeus.

Os EUA lideram o aumento das exportações portuguesas em valor absoluto, seguidos pela China. Mas a surpresa maior vem do Malawi.
